Dolly Gray of VH1 Interview: Houston Native

Posted by lunatic On July - 23 - 2010

DolHDolly Gray from VH1’s hit reality television show “Real Chance of Love 2” is with us from Eleven 11 Media for an exclusive interview! A Houston native, we sure are proud to feature this hometown bombshell from VH1.

A very unique and interesting interview, Dolly shocks us as she talks about her attraction for horses and describes to us why she finds them sexy, and gives us her explanation of why she thinks she actually was a horse in her past life! Going into extreme detail about her time spent on the show, Dolly paints us a vivid picture of what life is like on VH1!

Currently an aspiring artist, Dolly promotes her two singles with us, “Young & 21” and “Play With my Monkey”.  A single cover art she appears naked on, we definitely had to talk about that! Signed to Eleven 11 Media, Dolly is working on her upcoming album and will be the star of her own reality show, “Only Dolly.”

…And much more below. Enjoy this interesting read!

Interview: We’re right here with Dolly Gray from VH1’s “Real Chance of Love 2” – how are you doing Dolly?

Dolly Gray: I’m fine, actually great!

Interview: Great! The first thing I want to know is, what motivated you to join the cast of “Real Chance of Love 2” in the first place?

Dolly Gray: What motivated me to join the cast is I noticed during the first season that there was stallionaires and I don’t know if you knew this, but I think I was actually a horse in my former life. It was the perfect opportunity because Real [Ahmad Givens] kind of looked like a horse and that made me attracted to him. I did an audition and that’s what happened.

Interview: Hold on, take a step back. You just said you think you were a horse in your past life? I want you to go ahead and explain that because there is no self-explanatory way to describe that.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) Ok well let me explain it. First of all, I chew just like a horse. I’ve of course been chewing like that since I was able to chew. People always told me I chew funny, so I noticed I do kind of chew funny, and when I first saw a horse chew, I noticed that’s exactly how I chew. And then noticed I was attracted to the horse like, “that’s a sexy horse.” My skin tone, how I walk – I actually think I was a horse in my past life. I rode my first horse at gospel camp, the horse’s name was Dolly and we had a connection. The horse didn’t like anybody accept me. I thought well maybe it is true [that I was a horse in my past life].

Interview: Sorry, we’re taking another step back. Did you say that you’re attracted to horses?

Dolly Gray: Yeah, there sexy! You don’t think so? Think of their definition, how they work out every day.

Interview: I mean, unfortunately, I’m gonna’ have to disagree with you on that one. I can respect that though.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) Ok cool. As long as you respect it. You can’t say anything bad about horses.

Interview: (Laughs) it’s your opinion.

Dolly Gray: Yeah, you know what I’m saying? That’s what’s up.

Interview: Overall, how do you look back on your time with the show?

Dolly Gray: I look back positively. That was an experience I would never take back for the world. The cameras and being on set, I love cameras anyway. Obviously I thought the experience was awesome. It was like being in a group home with all girls. I learned about different personalities and I stepped outside the box. I look at it positively. It’s an experience I wouldn’t take back. I had a lot of fun.

Even though they didn’t show me as much and show everything that I did on the show, all the wild and crazy things I did, it still was a crazy experience.

Interview: So there were a few wild and crazy things you did that they didn’t show?

Dolly Gray: Yeah! There were a lot of things that they didn’t show; actually on everybody, not just me, but especially me.

Interview: Well it’s unfortunate for you that we have you on the phone and not everybody, so go ahead and enlighten us a little bit (laughs).

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) ok well they didn’t show me and the other girls interacting. Of course it was stated on the show that I like girls and Real [Ahmad Givens] still thought that I liked girls. I was attracted to a couple of the girls in the house. Me and Real had one time before; we kissed and did more than what they showed. They just showed me as a nervous character. There was a lot more than that. I played pranks on a lot of people.

My monkey that was on the show with me actually wrote Real a letter and he read the letter out loud. Real had a connection with my monkey. He slept in a room with him. There were a lot of things that didn’t make the show.

Interview: We’re gonna’ leave that one up to the imagination. If my hearing serves me correct, I heard “we kissed and did a lot of things that they didn’t show.” Maybe I’ll leave that one up to the imagination.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) no actually don’t do that because I didn’t have sex with him, nor did I have oral sex with him either. We laughed a lot and talked about our past. He talked about being a Christian. I told him how I couldn’t have any kids and he told me it doesn’t matter, it’s not up to a doctor to say I can’t have any kids – it’s all up to God. He pulled out the Christian side on me and things like that.

Interview: Well not only horses, but you did say you’re attracted to women as well!

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) yeah!

Interview: In the first four minutes and thirty-three seconds of this recording, this is easily the most interesting interview I’ve ever done.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) Well thank you! I take that as a compliment. And you’re the first person to ever interview me.

Interview: (laughs) as you should take that as a compliment! I just had to put that out there. And I’ve interviewed hundreds and hundreds of people, from the top rap stars and what not. Nobody has ever said something that interesting, that’s for sure.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) well thank you! I’m just being honest; I’m not trying to be interesting.

Interview: Well your honesty is interesting.

Dolly Gray: (laughs) thank you

Interview: What would you say is the best thing that happened to you on the show?

Dolly Gray: The best thing that happened to me on the show was, I’m a big people’s person. I’ve used the show as exposure for other things that I want to do. Doing the show has lead me to other opportunities. That’s the best thing that came from the show; not the money because of course I didn’t get paid much. It’s about the other opportunities that come afterwards. I want to say the publicity is the best thing I guess.

Interview: What was the worst thing?

Dolly Gray: The worst thing that happened was leaving the show so early. I don’t want to embarrass myself and say something that they didn’t show. The worst thing was getting kicked off so early; and VH1 not showing enough of my character and who I truly was. Those two things were definitely my worst experiences with the show.

Interview: Ok. If we’ve established one thing in this interview; it’s clearly your love for animals…

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) Clearly!

Interview: (Laughs) right, clearly. We’re talking about the attractive horses and the monkey that you keep with you and what not. You are a recording artist and “Play with That Monkey” is fittingly the single…

Dolly Gray: Actually that was the single but now I’m promoting the new single, “Young & 21.” And there could be another hit single coming because I’m in the studio everyday. We have a lot of hit singles; we’re just trying to figure out which one to throw out there. But yes, “Play with That Monkey” motivated me; it actually came from the monkey that was on the show. He inspired me to do a song.

Interview: You heard her y’all, for the all people who have their minds in the gutter, you heard her, and it’s the monkey from the damn show, ok?!? Keep it clean y’all.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) real clean! It’s just about the monkey. I mean, you know? (Laughs)

Interview: I saw the cover art for it on MySpace. Earlier you said that you like to be in front of the camera, geez, by that cover your half naked on, I couldn’t tell!

Dolly Gray: Oh wow! No! Don’t count that cover out. We’re heading for something way classier than that.

Interview: (Laughs)

Dolly Gray: That’s fine! Actually next time, I will be completely nude on the next music cover I do. And I’m gonna’ be worse than Erykah Badu because I’m really gonna’ show my naked truth (laughs).

Interview: Well I’m sure our readers will want to be kept posted on that…

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) Absolutely!

Interview: The new single is “Young & 21”, and “Play with That Monkey” was the first single you were promoting. There might be more coming you said but we’re in the present, let’s tell them about the current single, “Young & 21.”

Dolly Gray: “Young & 21”, of course you guys know my age. It’s all about being in the club, being young and 21, you like me because my stuff is 21 and my something else is 21 if you catch my drift (laughs). And my swagger is 21! It’s all about me being 21. It has a little swagger to them. It guarantees to jam, so go ahead and pick it up on ITunes! You could also find “Play with That Monkey” on ITunes.

Interview: Ok no doubt. Not to bring it back to the cover art but I did want to ask you, is it safe to say you’re comfortable in your own skin?

Dolly Gray: Actually yes. I’m so comfortable in my skin that I’ll show my stretch marks. I have a six year old son and he’s about to be 7. I’m so proud of my stretch marks, that they spell my name! I’m very comfortable. Even if I had a big mole on my nose, it doesn’t matter because I’m very comfortable in my own skin. Even when my breasts start to sag, oh yeah, you better watch out because you’re gonna’ see some saggy titties! (Laughs)

Interview: (Laughs) you’ll still be comfortable!

Dolly Gray: (laughs) oh yeah!

Interview: I like that right there. What’s the current label situation? I heard a word on that but I want you to tell our readers.

Dolly Gray: I am signed to Eleven 11 Media. I am signed to them; I do have a record deal. Not only that, but through Eleven 11 Media, I do have my own TV show that we’re actually in the process of filming right now called “Only Dolly.” It’s coming soon so y’all better watch out for that one.

Interview: An upcoming TV show, I can’t see how that would not be interesting.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs)

Interview: (Laughs) we’re definitely gonna’ stay tuned to that one. With the label and you working on the show which we will get into in a little bit, are you working on an upcoming album?

Dolly Gray: I am working on my upcoming album. Right now we’re looking at the title being “I Got the Remedy.” Since I was Lady and people know me as Lady, I was doing music before the show [Real Chance of Love 2] and I was hosting all kinds of TV shows. I was doing a lot before VH1. People knew me from Remedy and most people know me as Remedy, so I just go by Lady Remedy. We’re still trying to come up with the album title right now. We’re meeting about that right now. It’s in the works and happening ASAP! Trust me. We’re busy over here at Eleven 11 Media! (Laughs).

Interview: I like that right there. Are you eyeing any release date or particular month for the album?

Dolly Gray: Not right now. I would say before the end of the summer. Our release date for my album, look for it in August.

Interview: Tell them about this TV show you’re working on.

Dolly Gray: VH1 didn’t show my true character or who I really was. A lot of people laugh at me, not in a bad way, but even if they did, it wouldn’t matter! Even the girls on the show, they didn’t show me, there were a lot of things they could have shown. This is my time to redeem myself and so the public could see how I really am. Even though the show will be scripted of course, it’s going to be my own version of me. I’m gonna’ show things I actually do. I’m kind of thrown off, I do silly things and I don’t think before I speak. That’s basically what the show will center around. You could relate it to “I Love Lucy” – do you remember that show?

Interview: I do

Dolly Gray: Yeah, I always grew up just like Lucy. It’ll be something basically like “I Love Lucy” but Dolly is gonna’ be doing some shit like that! Do you want your elbows done? You want longer arms? Really? Only Dolly would do something like that.

Interview: Are you working on some sort of TV contract? Which network will be showing it? Not VH1?

Dolly Gray: It’s not gonna’ be VH1. We’re leaning towards HBO but we do have other offers on the table being thrown at Eleven 11 Media so it’s all still in the works. The best network station is going to be the station we go with. Whoever gives us the best deal, that’s who were going with. We’re already in the works. HBO is definitely the one were leaning towards right now.

Interview: That’s it Dolly, good answer. I like that right there. What’s next up for Dolly Gray? We know you’re working on the album and TV show, but what’s immediately next up for Dolly Gray?

Dolly Gray: Immediately up for Dolly Gray, I’m not sure. Before Lil Wayne went to jail and did his last concert, I was supposed to open up for him. Right now, I’m doing shows. You could book me to do shows because that’s what I’ve been doing. We’re actually about to put together a play. I don’t know though, I might just be doing shows and promoting the album. I’ve been doing a lot of shows though.

I’m a hair stylist too, and a full time mom – that’s first, it’s immediate and every day. She [my daughter] even gets on stage with me! No, I’m just kidding (laughs).

Interview: My next question is, what don’t you do? (laughs)

Dolly Gray: What don’t I do? I don’t date girls anymore.

Interview: Anymore?!?

Dolly Gray: (Laughs).

Interview: Key word, anymore.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) I am still attracted to them though. I do not not pray.

Interview: Do you see that, this woman does so much; she can’t even answer what she doesn’t do! She had to say she does not not pray!

Dolly Gray: I do a lot though. I’m everywhere. I have a hyper problem so I’m always everywhere. What I would like to do, my future goal is, I don’t care how much I fall off or how poor I get, my ultimate goal is to be the host of 106 & Park. That is what I’m working towards now. Hopefully all of this will gather up and I’ll be the host of 106 & Park. I’ve wanted to do that forever.

Interview: We’d love to see that happen.

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) thank you!

Interview: I appreciate your time Dolly. You heard it right here, if she’s not riding horses or playing with her monkey, or recording music, or being a hair stylist, or a full time mom, or not not praying, they can catch Dolly on www.eleven11media.tv

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) And on www.eleven11media.tv, they can soon enough catch a commercial clip for an episode of my upcoming TV show “Only Dolly” under the ‘webisodes’ tab. I don’t get on MySpace anymore but they can follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/vh1slady. And you can catch me in Texas rolling on the Southside! It’s as simple as that (laughs).

Interview: We do love this girl! This is our first time with her but you can already tell she’s a favorite. In 20 years when she’s still comfortable in her skin, you’ll even see her saggy titties!

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) oh boy! I said exactly that. You’re gonna’ be the first though. You’re gonna’ get the privilege of seeing that first.

Interview: This is a recording Dolly, hit me later, you got the personal number…

Dolly Gray: (Laughs) oh yes!

Interview: (Laughs) Alright y’all, we’re out with Dolly Gray! Do you have any last words before I let you go?

Dolly Gray: Thank you so much. Catch me in the stars! And love, love!
